Wrapped in an attitude
Norihiko Terayama
AUGUST 2 FRI - 25 SUN, 2024
Nature is beautiful.
Nature should be as it is.
We believe this is what our definition will be of the beauty of nature.
Artist Norihiko Terayama finds a new sense of beauty not by resisting nature, but by intentionally adding human touches to it.
It might be more accurate to describe his work as finding beauty within objects rather than finishing them to look beautiful.
What he does is to "organize" and "entrust."
This creates a comfortable "space (Ma in Japanese)" in the relationships between objects and spaces, between people, and people and nature.
Because Terayama can discern the beauty of nature, he can also intervene and leave his traces.
We would like our guests to enjoy the exquisite "space (Ma)" between the artist and nature, and the world where natural objects wrapped in new beauty in Norihiko Terayama's work.
