CIBONE O’TE
Exporting Japanese Thought | 日本的思考の輸出

Since our opening in 2001, CIBONE has acted as a quiet curator of life—selecting objects not just for their beauty and form, but for the stories they carry and the ideas they imbue into our daily lives.

In conversation with artists throughout Japan and worldwide, we’ve reflected upon thoughtful design, engaged in meaningful beliefs, explored new ideas and come to understand that beauty crafted with care becomes timeless. From these dialogues, a philosophy emerged—New Antiques, New Classics: What is made with care, transcends time.

Now, we reveal to the world something deeply rooted and quietly profound—Japanese thought.

It is the rhythm of the seasons.
It is the embrace of comfort.
It is the simplicity with soul.

It is mottainai—the reverence for what must not be wasted.

These are not just values—they are gestures of living, and we believe they belong not only to Japan, but to the world.
To export Japanese thought is to offer these gestures—woven into objects, carried by hands—into the flow of everyday life across the globe.

Through our careful curation of objects made for everyday living, we invite these sensibilities to slip gently into the lives of many—

as New Antiques,

as New Classics,

as quiet companions to a thoughtful life.

O’TE

Our project to share Japanese thought with the world is called O’TE.

It is rooted in respect—for craftsmanship, for nature, and for culture. At its core, Japanese thought holds reverence for all things, and O’TE gives shape to this spirit through visual, cultural, and conceptual inspiration.

The name "O’TE" combines two key elements:
The respectful Japanese honorific "O" and the word "Te" (hand), representing the artisans behind each creation.

O’TE is not a product.

It is a meeting place.

Hand to hand.

Thought to thought.

Together, "O’TE" becomes a new platform for thought—where hands meet in respect and collaboration, and where Japanese sensibilities are shared with the world.
