Commune Shop is coming to Greenpoint to visit its cousin.

CIBONE O’TE’s name and logo were created by commune, a Los Angeles–based creative studio. And Commune Shop is where commune brings its own distinct point of view to life.

O’TE is a project created to share with the world a distinctly Japanese way of thinking—one rooted in respect for the hands and skills of makers, for nature, and for culture.

Its name brings together “o,” a Japanese honorific prefix that creates a gentle sense of space, and “te,” meaning “hand”—the hands of makers.

O’TE expresses the visual, cultural, and conceptual inspiration that emerges when these two elements are connected, like one hand meeting another.

CIBONE O’TE and Commune Shop share an approach to craft that sees it not simply as a product, but together with the culture and ideas behind it.

Growing their respective practices in different places, yet connected by a shared way of thinking, they are something like family.

This fall, Commune Shop lands at CIBONE O’TE.

Commune Shop

Commune Shop is a retail space born from Commune Design, a Los Angeles-based studio working across architecture, interior, graphic, and product design.

The shop features works by artists, artisans, and designers with whom Commune has crossed paths through various projects and cultivated deep relationships with over the years, alongside original collaborative products.

Spanning furniture, ceramics, textiles, art, apparel, and everyday items, the curation is not defined by category or style. Instead, it is connected by the core philosophy of "who made it and how it was made."

More than just a place to sell finished goods, Commune Shop serves as an extension of the Commune community—sharing the stories of the people, places, cultures, and lifestyles behind each piece.

A Special Event Exclusive to Our Pop-Up

During the exhibition, original merchandise including T-shirts, caps, tote bags, and bandanas will be available for purchase. We will also be hosting trunk shows where the artists themselves will bring in special pieces and collections.
