WHAT THE WORKSHOP IS:
CIBONE O’TE will offer a workshop for authentic restoration using epoxy, following the same process as the traditional Kintsugi. Since no lacquer is used for this workshop, this is a quick and easy way to learn about Kintsugi restoration methods. Kintsugi is a traditional Japanese technique to restore your broken item to a more beautiful state by repairing with urushi (lacquer) and gold.

If you have any precious bowls or cups that have been broken but cannot be thrown away, please come and find those "Keshiki".
We will provide all the tools and materials. Please bring only your broken bowls and cups.
Workshop Details:
• Duration: 1.5 – 2 hours (Single session)
• Objective: Restores your piece in one day using epoxy resin and metallic powder.
• Material: All materials and tools will be provided. Please just bring your broken piece.
What to Bring:
Please bring your own broken ceramic item that meets the following criteria:
• Glazed ceramic or porcelain with a smooth surface.
• Simple breaks only (broken into 2 or 3 clean pieces).
• No chipped items: We cannot repair chipped pieces during this workshop—only clean breaks.
• Please bring a box or container to safely carry your item home, as the resin will still be curing.
*If you do not have a suitable broken vessel for the workshop, we can provide one for an additional $10. If you would like us to provide one, or if you are unsure whether your vessel is suitable for the workshop, please email us at info@yukogunji.com

** Important Note on Food Safety & Usage: Modern Kintsugi is NOT fully food-safe for hot liquids or wet foods. However, it is perfectly safe and suitable for decorative display, key/jewelry trays, or serving dry foods (such as nuts, dried fruits, or wrapped treats).
This event is recommended for anyone at any age, but a child who is under 10 years old must be accompanied by adults who are over 21 years old.
About Kintsugi artist:
Yuko Gunji is a New York-based Kintsugi artist dedicated to the traditional Japanese art of ceramic restoration using natural urushi lacquer and metallic powders like gold and silver. Grounded in the philosophy of wabi-sabi, she approaches each damaged piece with the gentle care of healing a patient—lovingly mending its history and giving it a new life. Her work and expertise have been showcased across distinguished venues and platforms, including Alison Bradley Gallery, CIBONE, NHK (Japan’s public broadcaster), Apple TV+, the Smithsonian Institution, and Coloso.
