-Shigeyoshi Morioka-
Born in Nara Prefecture in 1948 and raised in Wakayama Prefecture, he began making pottery at the age of 25 and built a kiln in Amano at the foot of Mount Koya. After visiting Tanegashima Island, he encountered Namban yakishime, and since then, he has focused on yakishime.
After that, he traveled to North and Central America, Southeast Asia, Korea, India, and other places around the world to learn pottery and earthenware making. His large jars are in the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York, and he is attracting attention both at home and abroad.
