Information: 'Nawa' refers to thin braided plant fibers such as straw or hemp, different from thicker twisted ropes called 'tsuna.' Shimenawa ropes are displayed at shrines, rocks, trees, coastal rocks, and springs to mark sacred spaces believed to house gods.
