In ancient times, dragonflies were called 'kachimushi'—victory insects—and were favored by warriors as decorative motifs on their weapons and armor. Even today, dragonfly patterns remain popular on yukata robes and kasuri fabrics, continuing a tradition from the Edo period to the present.
