This bamboo colander is tightly woven by the hands of skilled craftsmen. It is also very useful for freshly boiled edamame (green soybeans), soba noodles, and other noodles, and as a serving dish for ingredients during the nabe season. From the kitchen to the dining table, it is a tool for daily life that can be used without hesitation.
Even professional cooks, such as those at soba noodle shops, are surprised when they first pick it up and find that there are very few wisps on the surface. This is because the cutting process of bamboo straw, the raw material of the colander, is very precise. This is an indication of the high level of polishing skill of the blade grinders used as well as the adjustment of the blades used to cut the bamboo strips by the bamboo strips craftsmen.
The bamboo colander is a traditional Japanese tool. Although it may seem a hurdle to use and care, after use, simply wash it gently with detergent and a scrubbing brush and wipe off the moisture well. Since it is resistant to boiling water, it should be rather easier to use than metal colanders, which get hot when used for draining water. Use this colander, carefully woven by skilled craftsmen, in the kitchen as a vegetable drainer, on the tabletop as a serving dish, and on a daily basis.
