Hariko is a traditional Japanese craft made by layering paper over a wooden mold. Once dried, the mold is removed, leaving a hollow paper form. Some pieces are also crafted by building a bamboo or wooden frame, then covering it with layers of paper. Each piece is lightweight and durable, with unique shapes and painted designs.
Rabbits are seen as symbols of fertility, family safety, and progress. Known for their calm nature and leaping motion, they represent peaceful living and forward movement. The peach they often hold is associated with long life and good health.
Note: Each piece is hand work by the artist, even the same piece will have a slightly different expression.
