This is a traditional folk toy from Okinawa: a boy riding a red sea bream, made with the old Ryukyu-style papier-mâché technique.
Created by Yasufumi Furukura, a master of Ryukyuan toys, his work is known for its vivid colors and joyful expressions.
The fish fins are movable, adding charm to the piece.
Note: Each piece is hand work by the artist, even the same piece will have a slightly different expression.
