Koga Dolls are believed to have originated in the Edo period and are the oldest clay dolls in Nagasaki Prefecture. Alongside Fushimi dolls from Kyoto and Tsutsumi dolls from Sendai, they are regarded as one of the three major traditional clay dolls of Japan.

This piece is a decorative horse doll known as “Hanauma (Flower Horse).”
It is a beautiful example featuring the distinctive Koga Doll color palette of red, black, and yellow.

This item is founded at an antique market in Japan. Please note that it may have some scratches or signs of wear due to its age.
