1616 CMA “Clay
1616 /arita japan's new series, by Danish designer Cecilie Manz, is a collection using two types of clay: Arita-yaki's typical white porcelain clay and earth gray, which is made from natural raw materials as is.
This is the fourth new collection by Danish designer Cecilie Manz from 1616/arita japan, a series of ceramics with a simple form that embraces the diversity of modern eating habits, while recalling the time 400 years ago when they were made as tools. The theme is “CLAY” and the focus is on the clay. Arita-yaki porcelain, which was originally considered to be white porcelain, uses iron-containing clay, which was never used in the past.
The piece is composed of a combination of glazed and unglazed areas.
It was created after several years of meticulous verification and countless prototypes.
Since the color is left in its natural state, the intensity of the gray varies from piece to piece. The shading is created by all kinds of conditions, including the position of the pieces in the kiln and sun exposure. Cecilie Manz considers these individual differences as part of the design as a rich expression.
These bowls are from a series that can be stacked. From a small size that can be used to hold sauces to a large size that can be used for home parties, they can be used in different ways depending on the food to be served and the purpose of use, and can also be coordinated.
The smooth roundness of the bowls, which was arrived at by imagining them on dining tables around the world, shows the attention to detail in the materials that form the foundation of the bowls.
The bowls stand out for their beauty even when simply stacked on top of each other. Arita-yaki porcelain is highly durable due to its high-temperature firing process, and can also be used in microwave ovens and dishwashers. It is also practical.
