IFUJI
is a small studio of furniture producing unique and essential hand-made pieces. Owner and woodworker Masashi Ifuji is a Japanese craft artist based in Matsumoto city, Nagano Prefecture. He specializes in exquisitely crafted, simple and functional wooden objects such as his famous Oval Boxes, made by the influence of the "Shaker Box" from American history.
Another of his signature pieces are the tableware, placing emphasis on form and function. Traditional Japanese techniques such as sawmilling and plant-dyeing are used to create his pieces. Natural materials including glass-based paint and vegetable oil are essential to create functional shapes and an earthy appearance.
