This wooden mug is made from Machilus thunbergii (traditional Japanese laurel) grown in Kagoshima, where Akihiro Jin is originally from.
The JIN CUP Urushi is covered entirely in lacquer.
Finished using this technique of rubbing in raw lacquer, it is made entirely from natural materials.
Unlike other paints, the more you use it, the more gloss and character it develops.
A cup that develops over time is one you will grow to love.

Akihiro Woodworks is a woodworking group based in Kagoshima. They contribute to society by creating shapes and value using wood harvested from nearby mountains.
