Product Description
Jincup Ceramics are produced with the help of Hasami craftsmen, made by adjusting magnetic clay to a thick, muddy clat and pouring it into a mold to create the shape.
Each piece is molded as an individual with natural characteristics derived from the original Jincup.
The base is "Isubaiyu," a glaze made by mixing wood ash. Wood is burned, reduced to ash, applied to clay, and then passed through the fire again. The materials revolve, and are reborn into new forms. This glaze, born from such a cycle, might be perfectly described as "neo-woodworking."
A wooden cup and a ceramic cup. Though the materials are different, the sentiment behind them is the same.
Note: Each piece is hand work by the artist, even the same piece will have a slightly different expression.
