These crayons are made from the colors of Earth as they appear in satellite images taken from space. The colors are extracted from 12 actual mountains around the world. We want to convey the richness of Earth's colors to as many children as possible, to encourage them to enjoy the Earth's actual colors as they please, and to inspire them to become interested in and love the planet. These are the thoughts that are embodied in the crayons produced by the Satellite Crayon Project.
The colors of mountains change constantly depending on their history and the seasons. To represent these changing colors, each "Mountain Crayon" is numbered to represent the month in which its color was extracted. For example, the crayon numbered "11" is the color of the Shirakami-Sanchi Mountains, which change color over an area of approximately 1,300 square kilometers between summer, autumn, and winter. This indicates that the satellite image was taken in November, deep in autumn.
This product is made with the safety of small children in mind as its top priority, and is made using carefully selected natural ingredients, including beeswax, animal and vegetable oils, and pigments that comply with the European Toy Safety Standard (EN71 Part 3 2013), so that it is safe even if children accidentally put it in their mouths.
Note: Each piece is hand work by the artist, even the same piece will have a slightly different expression.
