Zumen-chiku (bamboo with drawings)
Clay mixed with a small amount of small sand and watered-down sulfuric acid is applied to the bamboo to create a distinctive pattern that appears in about a week. The concentration of the solution is adjusted according to climate and humidity, and the beautiful, atmospheric speckled patterns are created by the hands of skilled craftsmen.
