This is a Takayama Chasen (tea whisk) with several ears made by a traditional craftsman in Nara.
Chasen is a tool used for making Matcha (powdered green tea), and since the standard number of ears is around 70, you can easily use this Chasen in your practice or at home.
It can be used not only for making tea, but also for whisking warm milk to make matcha ore or cappuccino.
How to care for the Chasen
When you start using a new Chasen, lightly shake it in a bowl of water and then shake it again in hot water. The curl of the tip of the whisk will become longer and easier to use.
The curl of the tip is to protect the tip until use and to make it look beautiful, so it can be used without any problem even if the curl is gone.
After use, please do not use a dishwasher or detergent, shake it with water, dry it thoroughly in a well-ventilated place out of direct sunlight, and store it in a cool, dark place with little change in temperature or humidity.
