Masakazu Yoshida
Born in 1973 in Kyoto. Engaged in Asahiyaki, a tea pottery in Uji for nearly 14 years, from 2006 to the end of 2019. Asahiyaki is one of the seven kilns with a 400-year history in Uji, a famous tea-producing region in Japan, responding to the voices of tea masters and tea makers. Craftsmen have been working while sensing the time built up by successive generations of kiln masters. Through encounters with many people from Japan and abroad, Yoshida learned the beauty of conveying handmade craftsmanship, aiming to support the creation of spaces and family dining tables. After establishing his studio at Ashiya-city, Hyogo Prefecture, he wishes to convey in his own way what he has learned and felt over the years.
Note: Each piece is hand work by the artist, even the same piece will have a slightly different expression.
