Ryu U Se Ki” is a collection of works by Nobuyoshi Araki, one of Japan's leading photographers. Rat Hole Gallery, an art gallery operated by Hysteric Glamour, has published a number of quality collections of Nobuyoshi Araki's work and held exhibitions since its opening in 2008. However, the connection goes back before Rat Hole was established, and this book was first published in 1997 under the name “Hysteric Glamour. This book was compiled as a collection of works to conclude the large-format series, including Daido Moriyama's “Osaka. The contents are all black-and-white snapshots and landscapes, without any of the usual nudity, bondage, married women, etc., but rather a series of unobtrusive snaps and spider-web-like illustrations reminiscent of Kumad Denshamad and Osamu Kanamura. While the book leaves the viewer as a fan of Araki's work unsatisfied, it also offers a glimpse of the photographer's solid technique, making it a book to be enjoyed in a quiet space to look closely at Araki's thoughts.
