Atsushi Ogata
Mr. Ogata makes pottery using a climbing kiln and a gas oven at his studio in Uda City, Nara Prefecture. The shapes of his pottery are simple and tactile, yet powerful and dynamic. Ogata-san's work is consistent with the essence of pottery, which is to listen to the voice of the clay and create pottery in such a way that the individuality of the clay comes alive. Hakeme and Kobiki vessels, which vividly reflect the expression of the clay, are never the same piece, and their appearance is overwhelming.
