Product Description
The Aitsuki Okura (also known as Aiai Okura) is a traditional wooden mechanical folk toy made in Tokushima Prefecture, renowned as Japan’s leading producer of indigo dye. Three wooden pestles protrude from a white-walled storehouse mounted on wheels; when the attached string is pulled and the toy is set in motion, the pestles alternately move up and down with a rhythmic clattering sound, recreating the process of pounding indigo.
Please note that this item does not include a string. Kindly thread your own string through the small hole before use.
Note: Each piece is hand work by the artist, even the same piece will have a slightly different expression.
