Hamamatsu Hariko is a traditional folk toy that began to be produced in Hamamatsu in the early Meiji period by Hisayasu Miwa, a former retainer of the Tokugawa shogunate, who brought with him the papier-mâché techniques he had practiced while living in Edo.
