Saori Oomomo
Born in 1979 in Niigata Prefecture. After studiying at the Nagaoka Institute of Design Faculty of Art and Design, currently based in Niigata Prefecture. Well-known with her metal craft art pieces, accessories and cutlery with motifs of nature such as seeds, nuts, insects, and shellfish. Design and patterns from antique metalware and textiles from cultures around the world also serve as inspiration of her work. Her technique "Tankin" dates back to the Yayoi Period (BC100 - AD200), involves hammering, beating, or pressing metal to give it a form of pattern.
Note: Each piece is hand work by the artist, even the same piece will have a slightly different expression.
