Yuto Yamazaki
His wood sculptures are created by immersing himself in the details of a repetitive and mundane process. His main motif of foliage that exudes vitality, such as large and small cacti and flowers blooming on undulating trunks.Through his work, he explores moments that cross the boundary between the everyday and art.
Born in 1983 in Fukuoka Prefecture. After graduating from the department of sculpture at Musashino Art University in 2007, completed the sculpture course at Musashino Art University Graduate School of Fine Arts in 2009. Without deciding on a specific concept, he creates wood carvings that add color to everyday life and enhance quality. The wood carvings, which are created in an unconscious state of being immersed in manual work every day, use foliage plants that give a sense of vitality, such as cacti of various sizes and flowers blooming on undulating trunks, as the main motifs, as well as daily necessities, food, and characters. He also creates shaped works.
Note: Each piece is hand work by the artist, even the same piece will have a slightly different expression.
